- 1 lb ground chicken
- 8 oz pasta penne, rotini, or fusilli
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
- 1 cup marinara sauce or tomato basil sauce
- ¼ cup chicken broth or pasta water
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese optional
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until soft.
Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
Add ground chicken and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
Stir in Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
Add marinara sauce and chicken broth. Let simmer for 5–7 minutes.
Add the cooked pasta and stir to combine. Cook for another 2 minutes.
Sprinkle with mozzarella (if using) and let it melt.
Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve warm.
