- 2 –3 lbs beef back ribs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
- ½ cup BBQ sauce plus extra for serving
Preheat the oven to 275°F (135°C) or heat your smoker to low heat (225–250°F).
Prepare the spice rub: In a bowl, mix brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne.
Remove membrane from the back of the ribs (optional but recommended for tenderness).
Coat the ribs with olive oil, then generously rub the spice mixture on both sides.
Wrap the ribs tightly in foil and place on a baking sheet (or directly in the smoker if smoking).
Cook low and slow for 2.5 to 3 hours until tender.
Unwrap and glaze with BBQ sauce. Broil for 5–7 minutes or grill for a few minutes until caramelized.
Rest and serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
